Derek is a landsapce designer and LEED AP with a decade of professional design experience. He is a graduate of Purdue University's Landscape Architecture program. Derek has worked for award winning Landscape Architecture/Civil Engineering firms in Boston Massachusetts and Asheville, NC where he collaborated on several residential community master plans, shoreline restoration plans, greenway development programs, conceptual golf course designs and was a part of the design team for the Award Winning amenity package for Camp Lake James in Nebo, NC . In 2009, he relocated back home to Bloomington and served as the lead designer for Mother Nature Landscaping and Bloomington Valley Nursery until the end of 2014, upon which he accepted a position to be a traveling landscape designer for a property management firm, enhancing apartment communities across the country. 

Derek has designed and supervised the construction of countless residential and commercial properties within the local community and is very excited to continue enhancing the local area through his creative endeavors

In his personal life, Derek enjoys spending time with his fiends, family, dogs and adventure traveling or whitewater kayaking when the time allows. His frequent travels across the US and Central/South America have helped develop his design palate, creativity and general perspective on life. Finding a balance between work and play keeps him inspired and living life to the fullest.
